GETAWAY GUIDE - CABO SAN LUCAS - J+K GETAWAY

Ah the sun, sand & surf - is there really anything better?! We got back a few weeks ago and we're itching to be back! Cabo San Lucas is one of our favorite getaways. There is just SO much to check out and this time we even got to explore even more and it was perfection.  Be sure to check out our Cabo recap video too!

If you're looking for an incredible place to stay (and we mean incredible!) then look no further than The Resort at Pedregal. We stayed here last year and we're completely blown away. This year they were voted the #1 hotel in Mexico by Travel & Leisure and we're not surprised at all. The views, the ambiance, the staff - its so easy to see why they won. The best thing about Pedregal is not the constant sound of the waves, the stunning infinity pools, or the margaritas of the day but the staff. They are so incredibly kind and welcoming and we'd love to say thank you AGAIN for making our trip absolutely amazing! So thank you Aaron, Paulina, Carlos & Vivian!

The hotel itself is just wondrous. Truth be told you will find you want to stay instead of venturing out because its just so relaxing. Upon arrival you are greeted with margaritas - a great way to start the trip off! ;)

Every room at Pedregal has an earthy Spanish vibe that is so inviting.  The rooms all have their own plunge pool and a view that you'll just want to keep staring at. Here's a tip - sleep with the doors open and listen to the waves roll all night.  You can check out our full room tour here!

Besides the beautiful rooms, the whole property is breathtaking. The same views are seen from every angle. You can lounge at your pool chair and see the waves over the edge of the infinity pool. The gym and spa are also worth spending some time at. We hit the spa up every day and do the little ritual they show you - cinnamon tea, sauna, aloe, steam, ice room, hot tub, repeat :) Unwinding here after a day at the pool is so refreshing!

If you're heading to Cabo there is SO much to do! We're beach bums so we love to just lounge at the pool with a cool drink in hand. However if pool lounging isn't you're thing you can totally find something else to do. If you're still looking to stay with the beachy scene you should head over to Lover's Beach and see the famous Cabo Arch. Its a great beach to take lunch too and just relax. There are some amazing rock formations all around too so make sure to bring your camera. You can also snorkel, paddle board and canoe around this area.

Some of the more touristy things to do are heading to Downtown Cabo & the Marina which have so many little shops and eateries. Its a great place to people watch and to get the mainstream Cabo you've probably heard about. . If you're looking for a great new spot for lunch Médano Beach has TONS of options but our favorite is Sur Beach House. You can also explore other areas like Todos Santos which is home to the Hotel California. Its about a 2hr trip from Cabo but worth the scenic drive.

If you're the adventurous type (hand raise over here!) you can head to Santiago and do some hiking which is what we did. This was an excursion that our hotel provides through their customized Baja Experiences that are only offered at Pedregal. We did the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains and it was incredible. Mario was our guide and if you do this you need to request him! He made the whole experience 100x better! He showed us plants and fossil formations that we wouldn't have known about without him. We hiked through the oasis in Santiago which was was filled with HUGE rock formations and a dessert jungle. We even hiked with the local families dog on property which had us missing our Koda at home! The waterfall was gorgeous and you can't believe this is the middle of the dessert of Cabo. After hiking and swimming we headed over to another local families home for lunch and to learn how to make authentic quesadias. For lunch we had homemade guacamole & salsa, local cheese and marlin quesdias and for desert we had one tortilla with local honey on it - this was out of this world incredible! This was such a cool part of the trip that really makes the whole excursion worth it. Pedgreal also has several other options like swimming with sharks, deep sea fishing and ATV tours.

Hikings what we love to do when we explore new places - hello Zion & Gros Piton ;) - but there is also some of the best surfing in Cabo. One of our favorite places to grab breakfast and then have a day of surfing is at the Cabo Surf Hotel. You can take lessons or just hang out and read a book, the perfect place for a relaxing day!

Now its dinner time! We have SO many favorites for dinner here. If you haven't caught on yet, we're total foodies and love to immerse ourselves into a night out with delicious food. At Pedregal there are two restaurants that are totally worth going to. Even if we didn't stay there I would HIGHLY recommend both. The first is Don Manuel's which is Mexican fair done so so good! The sea bass here is incredible and so are the margaritas! If you go makes sure to say hi to Vivian (she's one of the hosts) and ask for Carlos to be your waiter, he's awesome!

The other restaurant on property is very well known in Cabo as one of the best restaurants in the area - El Farallon. Its built into the cliffside of the mountain and offers views of the waves that are worth seeing even if you just stop in for a drink. El Farallon has an amazing champagne bar that champagne dreams are made of! The menu is family style so be prepared for A LOT food! Both are on our list every time we visit.

One of our other favorites is Sunset Da Mona Lisa. We have gone every time we've visited because the scenery is just that gorgeous! The food and drinks are great but the view at sunset is what makes this place so amazing. At sunset they will blow conch shells to the sun setting and watching the sun set across the backdrop of Cabo and the Sea of Cortez is so beautiful!

We saved the best for last. We visited a new restaurant this year and we KNOW we will be going back to both eat and visit soon! Acre is a farm to table restuarnt that is by far one the best that we have EVER ate at. We are not going into too much detail because it has its own post HERE! So go read it because guys, its just that good!

Between the locale, food, people and landscapes, Cabo will have you hooked. Its always a special treat for us when we get to go back. These are some of our favorite stops along the beautiful Baja! Take a look at our photo diary below :) We're always looking to add more so feel free to send us recommendations if you have them!

Until next time Cabo... we'll see you again soon <3
